It's Coming Back, Better Than Ever

Remember the days of the Unconference...

It's back!  And, it's better than ever because we listened to your feedback.  In addition to a variety of sessions, we've added a comprehensive planning time at the end of the day so that you can work with colleagues to implement those ideas that excite you.

Keep an eye out for more information coming soon about "Next Practices," where Lindbergh's PD emphasizes the needs of 21st century learners.

Light It Up, Camp Ignite!

Watching students explore and create at Camp Ignite, you witness rigor, relevance, and fun intermixed for an engaging learning experience.  In this summer camp, students go deeper with the work that begins in our elementary libraries and classrooms:  robotics, Minecraft, coding, movie making, and digital art.

Robotics comes in many forms, and through Makerspaces, students can investigate and design a variety of tasks:

Code the Ozobot to follow the maze.  The colors determine the bots' path.
Not only do students program the bots, but they also design unique maps for the bots to follow.  It's a little like chess, as students have to determine which programs will help the bot progress and which will stall the trajectory.
Map complexity is student-driven.
Using Lego robotics, student both build and code their robots to complete an assortment of tasks.
Using Dash and Dot, these students reflect upon their program, realizing their Dash is headed straight for a cone.  Time to reprogram!
We often hear the word STEM referring to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, but many have started to transform the concept as STEAM, adding art to emphasize the creative, and often visual, processes of these critical thinking tasks.

Students use Tinkercad to design 3-dimensional shapes they create on the 3D printer.  And, for those patiently awaiting a computer, there's even a 3D pen!
STEAM isn't always "plugged in."  These students use toothpicks and gum drops to design a product strong enough to hold a book.
Green Screen is an iPad app where these triplets design their very own "Finding Dory."
Stop motion movies are all the rage.  In this one, a student is filming a Spiderman suspended in mid-web...
