Escape Room, Library-Style

What do you get when you add collaboration, problem-solving, and good old-fashioned direction reading?  An exciting library orientation!  Sure, you can develop a scavenger hunt, a video, a game, but our LHS librarians take it one step further:  An Escape Room.  To "escape" their orientation, students must work through all of the clues.  One must wonder...if they can't work it out, will they remain in the library forever?

Students begin by finding their group based on their provided cards.

Students use the clue on the card to find their next clue.

They continue their journey to another book, with a secret code unlocking location #3.

Through the first few clues, students find the fiction, non-fiction, and periodical sections of the library.

Students get a little stumped at the circulation desk -- where is the clue?

They finally figure it out, and unlock the secret code.
At the conclusion of the lesson, students have successfully navigated the library, including the online resources and can identify how to use those resources for future assignments.
